While I know that a few people had fun, I thought it was kinda, well, lame. The guys were mostly super nerdy (as in this was probably the first time they had danced in their lives), or they were plain creeps (basically they just wanted ass without even making an effort). Needless to say I was disappointed and a little discouraged. I mean even though I'm attending a women's I still want to be able to meet and hang out with guys....just not sketchy ones. Is that too much to ask???

The next day, Saturday, I went to my first MIT frat party. IT WAS AMAZING!
I didn't party a whole lot in high school, sure I was at a few parties where there was alcohol, but it wasn't something I did often. Many of the students here are the same way, if not less exposed.
After the very disappointing mixer on Friday, my roommate and I decided we needed to get off campus and experience a better party. Our solution: an MIT frat party.
It was MIT at rush week, which coincides with our first week. All sorts of Facebook invitations kept popping up for the various parties that were going on during the weekend. Before getting to campus, I had repeatedly told myself that there was no chance I would ever go to a frat party, at least not my first year. Haha I sure changed my mind quickly!
We danced there the whole time. The guys were more like what you expect "normal" college guys to be like. You could talk to them as well as dance, and you didn't have to worry so much about them randomly grabbing you...Basically it was a fun night. My only complaint is the transportation issue. So many first-years went to MIT that there was no way we could all get back on the same bus. So many people were running and pushing each other as they tried to get on the bus--not pretty. I lucked out a little by going on the earlier bus to get there, but the way back was still a nightmare and i didn't get back until at least 3am, if not later.

Lastly, the on campus REMIX party was, I'm sorry to say, my least favorite of the three. There were two dance floors, one inside and another in the garage. I started out inside since there were more people. , but the music wasn't the greatest so I decided to go see if the dance floor outside was any better. It was.
Now tell me, WHO SMOKES WHILE THEY DANCE? So many people were smoking and the stench was disgusting. We managed to find an area where the smell was less noticeable and we did enjoy ourselves for a while, that is until we decided to go back inside...
Just as I'm getting water, a girl sitting on the couch leans over and pukes all over the carpet. We leave, hoping to avoid the awful smell, when I see another girl fall flat on her face and another nearly fall down the stairs, both were clearly intoxicated and clearly first-years. My motto has always been, to know your limit if you're going to drink, puking is never pretty.
The guys at REMIX were overwhelmingly creeps. Most would just grab your arm or your waist and pull you towards them to try to get you to dance with them. I feel really bad saying (typing?) this but...if this is the best Wellesley party of the year, I'm going to skip the rest and just stick to MIT's parties. I definitely still want to sample the BC and Harvard party scenes, though!! And I'll be sure to write about them too!
